Long, thick hair?

I have extremely think hair, and its red and long. I also have somewhat of a big head and this just adds to the effect. Short hair doesnt work for me either, so I want a long hair look that doesn't make my head look like a balloon. My biggest conflict is that my hair is so thick that it doesn't hang down by gravity. I have so many follicles that it just does what it wants sometimes. I use a good conditioner and shampoo every morning and my hair is decent, but I've seen people that have thick hair like mine that made it look good. Any suggestions?
