Dying blonde hair brown?? can i strip the color?

i'm thinking of dying my hair brown in the future. my hair is somewhere in between a dirty blonde and strawberry blonde. i want to die it the color of alexis bledel's hair (aka rory from gilmore girls) i just love her (natural) hair color. I've never dyed my whole head of hair before, just underneath, and it was a red so it faded pretty quick. If i get it done, and i decide later that i want my old color back, how easy will it be for me to get the dye stripped out, and how much will it cost?
