Technical query related to textiles. Cotton/lycra weft fabric after bleaching / dye show bursting of Lycra fil

Dyed / bleached Cotton warp and cotton lycra weft fabric show bursting of lycra fils at several places. Fabric Plain woven 50s x 50s on Airjet / Projectile looms. Does lycra break at all in processing. The grey fabric is OK. The broken edges appear severed with sharp instrumets.Can anybody enlighten me on why this happens and what to do to avoid this.
