Is the UK Guardian correct: US Afghanistan mission close to failing?

We took our resources away from where the terrorists were/are to enact a personal vendetta against Saddam Hussien...I'm not saying he was a good person, I'm just saying there were no terrorists in Iraq til we opened the door.
