Are there modern day prophets and children of God?

are there still prophets of God living among us? or the children of God? well, after reading the Bible a while ago.. i made a wish that somehow, I could be one of those people but i don't know if that's possible.. hehe, i've already committed so many mistakes that being one of them is so impossible.. i want to be more than a simple servant of God, but that is really impossible i think.. and besides, it requires time and big devotion and dedication to God.. so tell me what do u think?
